Buy Me A Beer for Change
This year for Earth Hour, WWF is promoting a “Beyond the Hour” campaign to encourage people to contribute to preserving the environment beyond the one hour we will be spending in the dark on Saturday, March 26th from 8:30 pm – 9:30 pm. I definitely have room to do more in my life, and I think this is a great “push” for me. Here is what I’m going to do:
- Take 3 days off from meat each week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday)
- Commit to using green bin in my condo (they were just introduced last month)
- Buy more vintage clothing than new clothing (YEY!)
- Take more re-useable bags to the grocery store (I’m REALLY bad at this. Time to get my arse in gear)
YOU should do something, too. Like maybe buy me a beer every time I complete one of the items above (item one would necessitate three beers a week, FYI). AND THEN, I would buy you a beer for all of the things that YOU do to help preserve the environment. Hopefully, if this plan works out, you and I will be constantly drunk in an perfectly sustainable utopia. Who wouldn’t want THAT?

I just realized that I will be bartending in the dark tomorrow (darktending!) from 8:30 to 9:30. Also, if you bought me a beer for every time I substitute meat with, oh, ANYTHING that doesn’t make me feel like I swallowed a brick made of animal parts…I would be quite happily eternally drunk. I like your plan.
